What Have We Lost?
Do you see what I see?
Or should I lead your mind?
To see what the picture shows,
And all the stories behind…
I see all that we lost,
We lost ambitions, passions and art,
We lost dreams, hopes and faith,
We’ve lost lives and they’ve fallen apart…
These eyes that you see,
Nurtured dreams of a great future,
These eyes that held visions,
Intentions — clean, good and pure…
One could’ve been a painter,
The other could’ve created songs and dance,
To paint our dull lives with bright colors
And take us into a world of musical trance…
One could’ve made us feel and breathe words,
The other could’ve made us taste emotions,
One could’ve made sculptures and models,
Others could’ve challenged the speed of motion…
One could’ve helped the poor,
The other could’ve been a teacher,
One could’ve been a businessman,
The other, a religious preacher…
Alas…
But this world we have lost,
And the million “could’ve” lives wailed,
They shall all die a forgotten soul,
And all of us have collectively FAILED!!!
